The Beautiful Escape travel makeup collection was released on the 31th July by Estée Lauder Companies featuring travel minis as well as samples from Estée Lauder, Mac, Smashbox, Origins, Bobbi Brown etc. The collection features the exclusive Beautiful Escape travel makeup bag and 8 (*NOT 9 like in the photos, explanation later*) goodies. The price for this is £25 and it is claimed that the total of the products is worth around £73. You can purchase this bag straight off the Estée Lauder website (click) or on any of the brands’ websites which are included in the set.
Initially when I received the collection I was excited but also sceptical as the majority of the products were not travel minis but samples, which clearly stated: ‘not for sale’ on the back. So I checked online which of these products are actually available for purchase in the same size as in the bag. Only 2 of these are available seperately and not in other sets: the full sized Mac Mascara which costs £19.50, as well as the Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray in the 50ml version for £10. Even though the other products might not be for sale and could be considered as ‘free of charge’, these 2 products already make up £29.5 which is obviously more than the retail price of this whole collection. In addition to this, you get the makeup bag which is nice and summery although it could have been a bit larger in my personal opinion.
Only after I took these photos I noticed that the product on the left here the ‘Estée Lauder Revitalizing Supreme Global Anti-Aging Mask Boost’ is actually a sample that came with the box and not an actual travel mini that is part of the collection.
Overall I really enjoy this travel collection and I love the diversity of the Estée Lauder Companies and their products. Some of these travel versions such as the Origins mask and the Bobbi Brown cream Eyeshadow stick I believe have very decent sizes. On the other hand, I believe that especially the Estée Edit makeup remover could have been bigger as you would use this up within a couple of days.
I would recommend this to those people like me, who cannot generally afford such high-end makeup or skincare products and want to test them and see if they’re worth the high price tag or not. The makeup bag could have been bigger in my opinion and I just personally prefer plastic ones as they tend to get dirty less easily.
